SEVA Charitable Trust has been supporting the tribal villages inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park to empower their lives with self-sustenance and towards economic independence. Their efforts in this direction include vocational training. ‘We plan to provide the adivasis with skills that would make them self-reliant and help them integrate into the mainstream; thereby reducing their dependency on the forest,’ says Amisha Parekh, founder of SEVA. Her efforts into putting together this unique Diwali shopping in Goregaon is commendable.

SEVA has started various project to give livelihood options to these tribal villagers. They have been trained in making coasters using jute, eco-friendly wood, handmade lights made out of plastic bottles, hand-painted pots along with herbs like basil, thai chilli and ayurvedic plants, cloth bags, paperbags, etc.
‘We have lot of knowledge of herbs. Utilising this knowledge, we want to make DIY kits’, Amisha adds.
