Sunday Forest Walk with Anand Pendharkar

Venue: Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Timing: 6.15 am- – 11.30 AM
Charges: 650

Winter is approaching and the forest is undergoing a marked transformation from lush green of the monsoon to the increasingly dry and leafless character of the winter.

Trekkers and nature lovers enjoy this transformation all the more. Join a walk along the Shilonda Trail and get the first-hand perspective of the forest ecosystem, small lifeforms and birds that visit SGNP in winter.

The peaceful trail starts along the plains just before the Kanheri foothills and winds along gently into a good long walk heading northwards. Once the home of a tribal settlement that has now moved away, nature has completely reclaimed this territory. The trail reveals the gradual gradation in the vegetation from scrubland at the beginning to dense, tall evergreen forest ahead. This route is met – at more than one point – by rapid forest streams and wading through ankle deep water may be required.

Songs of Sunrise 21.1

Venue: Aarey Colony (starting point)

Early morning mist, warm earthy fragrances, perhaps, a puddle along the way? Breathe easy, run easy, take time to enjoy the green and the beautiful! Forget the city, forget the pollution, forget all your stresses, forget everything else. Run, break free, enjoy yourself!
