IPL fever is on. Cricket lovers live, eat and breathe the series.
Weekend matches mark days full of food, friends, family and fun. Everyone wants to root for their favourite team and enjoy the commercial breaks.
When you think of food during a match, all that comes to your mind is pizza, nachos, beer and aerated drinks. You can enjoy these foods with careful eating.
Practice Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is nothing but an act of understanding how your actions and feelings influence what we eat.
Eat food while watching TV – sounds like a good idea? No. The reason is simple, you are not aware of what and how much you eat. So eating a meal during a match is not a great idea. Take a break, pause the channel, and go for your meal!
Snacking the Right Way
Matches begin at 4 pm during on weekends. Make sure you have wholesome lunch. This way, you won’t start munching as soon as the match begins.
Still, if you cannot help but eat in front of the screen while the match is on, choose wisely. Snacking is the major crux of all the problems.
Given below is a list of healthy options you can choose from:
- Salad sticks like carrot, cucumber with yogurt dip
- Hummus with Whole Wheat Pita Bread
- Multigrain Bread Sandwiches
- Fruit Bowl
- Veggie Salad
If pizzas have always been your favourite match snack, combine two slices with a salad so you don’t overstuff yourself.
If it’s a homemade pizza, put a lot of veggies and paneer instead of cheese.
Grab a light snack, so it can be followed with an early homemade dinner. But if you have overstuffed yourself with the snack, just have a cup of milk or a fruit.
Iced tea or coffee are good options to drink. But if it has to be an alcoholic drink, go for a light beer or wine. Aerated drinks are best avoided.
If you choose to go for fruit juices, choose low-sugar options.
Between the IPL Innings
Make sure you move every four overs. If nothing, just walk a few metres and back to your seat.
Stretch between the innings. All this will help you move your muscle and relax your eyes as well.
At the End of the IPL Match
If you have had faith in your favourite team and it loses, it sure is to affect your mood badly.
Many would turn to sweets in this scenario. But please don’t get carried away and choose healthy options like:
- Fruit Popsicle
- Sweet Fruit like Mango
- Chocolate Dipped Fruit
- Granola Yogurt Parfait
