The final day of Durga Puja, the day we bid farewell to Maa Durga and her children, is celebrated with Shidur Khela. Women – most often married women – get a chance to get up close to the idols as they apply sindoor, offer sweets and small gifts to the Gods before they leave. After this begins a Holi-like revelry as these women then apply sindoor for each other.
